Kariophylli Farm

“Kariophylli Farm” is located in a forest on the Lepetymnos mountain. Lepetymnos (Λέσβος: Λεπέτυμνος-Συκαμιά (topoguide.gr)), they say, was a warrior of the Trojan War. Dark-skinned, rough and born hero who gave his name to the highest mountain of Lesbos. In the adjacent field is found  the aronia plantation. Aronia (Αρώνια, η θρεπτική αξία και τα οφέλη της (mednutrition.gr)) belongs to the berry family, is native to North America, holds the first world position in the international scale of medicinal plants, is full of vitamin C and has the second highest content of anthocyanins (polyphenols) compared to other berries .It thrives in cold climates and came to Europe after the Chernobyl nuclear accident, after proving to be the only fruit that removes heavy metals from our body. It is considered the number one superfood worldwide.

September is the month of harvest, and for the next 2-3 more months, the plant retains its fresh fruits.The remaining aronia – fruit and leaves – is dried and made into either jam or a beneficial super-tea.
